Sanctus real | Biography
Formed in Toledo, Ohio in the mid-'90s, Sanctus Real has become one of the most enduring acts in Christian music. With eight No. 1 songs, 19 Top 10 hits, two GRAMMY® nominations, a GMA Dove Award, and more than 2 million singles sold, the trio — Dustin Lolli (lead vocals), Chris Rohman (guitar), and Mark Graalman (drums) — has built a catalog of anthems that have shaped a generation of faith. "Lead Me," "I'm Not Alright," "Confidence" (RIAA Platinum®), and "My God Is Still the Same" (RIAA Gold®) are among the songs that have defined the band's legacy. Today they draw more than 2.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone.
When co-founder Matt Hammitt departed in 2016, most people didn't think Sanctus Real would survive. They were wrong. Dustin Lolli stepped in, and what followed wasn't an epilogue — it was a second act. "Confidence" became a surprise Top 10 hit. "My God Is Still the Same" peaked at No. 2 and spent 40-plus weeks on the Billboard charts, earning RIAA Gold® certification as an independent release — a remarkable achievement by any measure. Nearly a decade in with Dustin, they've hit their stride.
Now recording independently through their own Framework Records, Sanctus Real operates with a creative freedom they've never had before. The songwriting is personal, the live shows are some of the best of their career, and the new music reflects a band that has earned every note. "I feel like these are some of the best songs we've ever had," says Graalman. "There's a handful that just feel like God touched them and did something special."
